About your visit
Oak & Stone School sits in the peaceful woods of Berks County, Pennsylvania. A traditional home based on a 1905 Gustav Stickley design, it embodies the American Arts & Crafts movement.. As trained artists, Michael and Kim cherish this location as a haven for their own creativity, rest, and connection for friends and loved ones. Oak & Stone aims to share this environment, where fellow artists learn and grow.
Students find inspiration in our first-floor classroom, where craftsman tradition meets a comfortable learning environment. Extensive red oak woodwork, harvested onsite in true craftsman fashion, defines the space. Solid wood doors, custom mission lighting, and abundant natural light complement it.
During breaks and optional communal meals, students and their guests relax in the living room, which features a unique fireplace facade created by artists from Moravian Tileworks in Doylestown, PA. Outside, over five acres of woodland invite exploration with an uphill walking path; and closer to home are smaller gardens, and a patio area.
Centrally located, Oak & Stone provides access to the local charm of nearby towns like Reading and Kutztown. Here, you discover farmers markets, antique shops, and nearby hiking trails. See our FAQs for information on where to stay during your visit.
